It's a small community at the moment, and many people come and go, but there's a fair few of you cool complainers who keep coming back and continue to make this place what it is. I just think that's awesome, and I wanted to formerly say thank you to those active ISFATters. love.gif

If you've posted in the last 30 days and have 10 or more posts, I've given you a free 1 year subscription pack. happy.gif

What does that mean? Basically, you're now in the super cool Rantaholics group. You also get some over hyped extra perks, like a special icon next to your posts, no ads in the arcade, a handful of forum perks, and the ability to create your own personal room in the live chat. Welcome to the new site! http://www.isfat.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=2027 Surprise! The new site really does exist! (Who knew?)

Obviously there's a lot of new stuff here, so I'll recommend some basics and leave the rest up for you to explore.

ohmy.gif New Profiles
Look at that shiny new profile of yours! I bet it'd look even prettier if you filled some info out. Click the "Tools" link at the top of the page and edit your About Me, interests and other details. You can also upload bigger profile photos, so go nuts!

ohmy.gif ZOMG Blogs
You can now create your own personal blog to keep the community informed about your insanely lonely life! (Also, it's a great way to organize all your shitty youtube clips into one clear section that we can easily avoid laugh.gif) To create your blog, go to the main Blogs page or your User Control Panel. Please remember not to post ISFATs to your blog, though!

ohmy.gif A chat room that works!?
It's true! The new site includes a pretty spunky, new chat room, so be sure to stop by and flirt with your fellow complainers.

It's not over just yet: there are still many more surprises to come... but the site definitely works - so I figured there was no reason to keep you guys waiting any longer. smile.gif

Post any questions you have below along with all your pretty compliments. I'd be lying if I said I didn't get a warm fuzzy ego boost from your feedback!

Happy ranting, my fellow complainers! happy.gif]]>

Not Another Personal Message http://www.isfat.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=1718
QUOTE (straight_acting @ Mar 29 2006, 04:47 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
ISFAT was made for venting without the fear of being ridiculed, chastised or flamed, and I'm glad it has kept that way.

Re-reading a year old post made by straight_acting, I can't help but feel we've recently lost our way.

At this very minute I'm sitting here, working on a completely new site for the 'fat. I flick back to the normal site, and see a bunch of 12 year olds spam up a storm of stretched out cats, literally. I ask myself, "is this really what I'm really spending every minute of my spare time on?" Are these seriously the people that I'm slaving over 1000's of lines of irritating code for?

There's no easy way to say it. The quality of our posts have gone down and I'm sure you're all noticing it. There was a time when we were once relevant. We were tightly knit. There was no fear. Back then, people like straight_acting had the balls to post incredibly private, emotional, sentimental ISFATs like A Long Goodbye.

I don't know about you guys, but I miss all that. This place means so much more to me than most things in my life. Yes, even One Tree Hill. I know, I still have trouble comprehending that myself!

Lately there's just been a lot of off topic post whore crap. And please, for the love of Chad Michael Murray, this censorship argument needs to end right here and now. I'm saying this for the last time. It's simple. For censorship to occur there has to be something to censor. Most of the crap I've been deleting lately is one liner off topic brain-gobwash with no opinion, no contribution to the topic at hand, and just serves to drain a topic of any meaning whatsoever. I would never simply delete something just because I don't agree with it. I have no problem with people speaking their mind and expressing all sorts of opinions - that is what this site is here for after all!

"Wait, what did he say? ISFAT has a purpose? You mean it's not just a go-to-spot for low quality brain gob wash, Starcraft references and conspiracies to see how many pictures of cats we can post at once?" For the newcomers and those living in denial... yes, ISFAT has a mission -- and it's about time we got back to it.

Ranting is not a negative, attention seeking thing. It sends a message, and that's what we're here to do. By ranting, we outline what's wrong with the world and we set the level for change. We're saving the world one ISFAT at a time. We're like superheroes, only without the gay outfits.

I hate deleting posts, especially when I get a giggle out of them. But at the same time I'm not going to consciously watch this place lose its values, abandon its mission, lose all meaning whatsoever, and officially become a spam happy go-to-spot for low quality brain-gobwash.

There are forums out there that ban around 50 people a week for single spelling errors, for posting in capitals, and just for asking questions. I hardly think I'm on a power trip. I'm not a tightass behind the scenes administrator that only posts about scheduled server downtime. With message after message ignored, I think I've been pretty damn lenient up until now.

But you know what? I'm done with sending warning messages. I'm done sounding like a broken record trying to preach logic to those who refuse to listen. You want a power hungry, censorship obsessed, tyrannical monster? Well kids, if that's what it takes to get things back on track here, then you got one. king.gif The junk ends right here, right now.

If you see someone posting something off topic, something that shouldn't be there at all, or even something personal like asking their buddy to bring a DVD to school tomorrow, SPEAK UP. It's your site too. If this lack of respect for others annoys you like it does me, you have every right to lay down the law. Granted, threatening with perm bans may not be the right way to approach the situation (cough ledemente <3), but that doesn't mean you have to stay silent and watch this place sink faster than the Titanic. Fight for what's yours and stand up for the community we should be.

Perhaps I'm overreacting. Okay, scratch that, I'm definitely overreacting. But that's the thing, this place is like my little sister. I'll always have a strong personal bond with ISFAT. I have high hopes and dreams for this place, and I honestly can't wait to share them all with you. I won't lie though, as a result, I take a lot of things personally. Some may see that as a weakness, but I see it as a gift. I'm dedicated, kids. This is one admin who won't back down. I'm not hiding behind any moderator tools. I'm right here, and I'm in your face, spammers!

I just thought it was time I said something public about all this. I can't imagine what the kind of response would be now if someone were to post something similar to straight_acting's topic I mentioned before. I'm disgusted just thinking of the potential spiteful, offensive, ignorant, and disrespectful comments that I'm sure it would acquire. I don't want this feeling to continue any longer.

The naughty kids know who they are, hell I'm sure a lot of you even have a fair idea of the spam whores I'm talking about. Don't get me wrong, there is no one who is not welcome here. It's a deeply embedded belief of ISFAT's to provide acceptance wherever we possibly can. But those who abuse that love and luxury will be treated the exact same way they treat others. And that's a promise I'm making personally.

I know there are a lot of you still loyal to the cause, and for that ongoing support, love, and dedication, I sincerely thank you. You are all the pioneers of the revolution! Let's not lose our way. So, for those with me, let's shout it loud. "SHUN THE NON BELIEVERS!" C'mon, say it with me! SHUNNNNNNN!! biggrin.gif

This idealistic fool is over and out.

Now let's get back to saving the world!]]>

Shiny new forum categories http://www.isfat.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=1641
If any of you caught the offline message, don't worry... Ranty's had a nice rest and his pupils are now back to normal!

It all might seem cluttered now, but the new category system is part of the new site I've been hard at work on (I haven't been having a Stargate marathon, I swear! All lies!) Since it's Emo Poem Day here on ISFAT, I'll play into cliches: "there's much more to come, so stay tuned!"

Hope you all like the new opportunities to rant about all sorts of crap! happy.gif]]>

Emo Poetry Day http://www.isfat.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=1636

In celebration of ISFAT's resident philosopher and her famous poems, I hereby dub this day Emo Poetry Day on ISFAT! From now on, July 18th (lonely day's birthday) shall be a day of apathetic bursts of loneliness and despair!

July 18th is your chance to express the embarrassing inner fears and doubts that may often consume your mind.

So let's start breaking down these walls! Reply to this topic with your confessions and online tears, or even start your own Emo Poetry Day inspired topics. What are you afraid of? What's making you panic lately? And most importantly, how do you feel? No, really... how do you feel? Are you happy? C'mon... you can tell us! There's a subscription package in it for the best emo confession.

Once again, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to lonely day! It was with her bravery to share her most private feelings with the world that Emo Poetry Day was born. Too often we create these barriers around our feelings and somewhere along the road, we stop telling each other how we feel. No one's judging you, we all get to be emo today!

I've also got a subscription package for the complainer who wishes lonely day a 'happy birthday' with the most apathetic Emo Poetry Day spirit.

Oh, and since this is the first time, I'm gonna extend the festivities until the end of the week, festival style! Congrats lonely day, your birthday is the start to something emo special.]]>

Arcade Funk http://www.isfat.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=1385 Arcade, you'll see some shiny new improvements!

The navigation and search areas are a lot cleaner, and I also tried to make the game favorites system a bit more visible - as I don't think many people were using it. When you play a game, there's now an option to add that game to your favorites. Amazing! An "Arcade Favorites" link has also been added to the quick panel for those subscribers out there! smile.gif

There's a new Game Of The Day feature, as a way for us to battle it out over a new game every day!

Also new is a challenge system, where you can pick any member and any game, and have your own penis size war! (Come on, isn't that what everything's about these days?) Just look for the 'Send Challenge' link in game menus. Go try it out!

Oh, and I finally added an explanation for what the League Leaders section is and how it's calculated. Check out that section of the arcade for more info.

Coming soon will be an announcement block in the arcade for the latest challenges, with who beat who, etc.

You dig?

ISFAT Groupies Gone Wild http://www.isfat.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=1379

As a convenient distraction from the lack of egg hunt prizes, I'd like to announce several much needed updates to the ISFAT subscription pack!

I won't list all the features, but subscribers view the site with no ads, get a super sleek quick links panel to make browsing the forum easier, and gosh darnit, Jim - they do it all with a super pretty emblem next to their posts that shouts their love for ISFAT!

For more details and a full list of perks (including screenshots), click the banner above or follow this link to the subscriptions page.

I'd like to remind everyone that no special treatment is given to subscribers - the same forum guidelines apply to everyone. Subscription packages are merely a way of donating to ISFAT, and in return we like to thank you with some pretty perks to ease your isfatting! smile.gif]]>

The 2007 ISFAT Easter Egg Hunt http://www.isfat.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=1289 http://www.isfat.com/forum/index.php?act=attach&type=post&id=219

It's time to start a fun new holiday tradition here on ISFAT!
Welcome to The 2007 ISFAT Easter Egg Hunt!

32 different easter eggs are hidden all over the ISFAT site, and it's up to you to find them!

This is a contest for you guys to have some fun while you rant, because let's face it... procrastinating is the best way to effectively deal with your problems!

For more details about the hunt, check out your Egg Inventory page! You can go there at any time via the "Eggs" link in the top navigation.

Winners and prizes will be announced when the contest is closed.

I'd like to send my heart out to:
love.gif Kelevra, for coming up with the idea with me in one of our romantic brainstorm sessions
love.gif My buddy David (aka ranteloke), who designed all of the pretty little eggs!
love.gif My proud fat friend Paul (aka lubroos), for always being my programming monkey when I need one!

Feel free to post any questions, but for the love of One Tree Hill, don't tell everyone where the eggs are!

Merry freakin' Easter, everyone!

Sincerely,
the evil bunny bunny.gif
