I think that "Kiwi!" is just one of those little shorts that will mean something different to anyone who watches it.

For me, it's about follwing your dreams and meeting your aspirations - no matter what the cost. And even though he may not recognize it (at least judging by his comments regarding the meaning of the animation), it does seem to imply the fact that if it's worth dying for, it's worth all the trouble and manpower you expound in the process.

I mean, look at Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. for instance: he had a dream of an America that lived in racial equality, free of oppression... and he ended up slain for his beliefs. (Sorry if that minor comment was OT, BTW...)

In any way, it's just a small, tender peice that is moving and inspirational, even if the creator didn't have any foreknowledge of the impact or meaning it would have on those who watched it. :*)~

Quick Translation:
QUOTE
Kiwi is one of the shortest animations, but more exciting and rich stories that have seen. I think that Kiwi is more than a "cartoon". Kiwi encloses a high philosophical content and synthesizes marvelously the price that some of us are willing to pay for such to see our dreams done in reality.

Much Happiness to its genial creator.

Y mucha felicidad a usted, también, senior Jesus! =D

This is by far some of the best CGI that I've seen in a while, I wish you great success in your future Dony. I would love to meet you in person but I'll be busy for a while. I am currently in the fields of interactive arts but still. "Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish." Steve Jobs lived it, I've lived it, and now I pass it to you. Do what you love and don't let anything out there stop you, not cancer, not bankruptcy, not even Judgement day itself.
Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish.

I am a New Zealander. I am a kiwi. smile.gif I read about your work on the Trade Me message board (an online auction site in NZ) see link...

I am thrilled to bits with your profound animation. This is what it means to me. I cannot wait for my 5 year old (Zac) to get home so I can share it with him too.

the kiwi spends his whole life working on a dream
he has to fly... free... the only way to do this takes up his entire life in effort... but one day.... his dream is realised... his hard work has paid off... he can now face the moment he has lived for... he now experiences the moment he will die for. It is beautiful! He does not want to die... he has tears of sadness, but also tears of joy... as he is realising his life-long ambition... this is what has given meaning to his life !!! He pays the ultimate price for the moment that gave his WHOLE life purpose and meaning! God bless the kiwi!

dear wee Zac.... after watching it 3 times, and saying that only the ending was sad...
he is now saying that the kiwi has NOT died... he had a TRAMPOLINE ready at the bottom ok.... and he bounces right back to the top of the cliff to fly free again and again and again!!!

Kia Ora!

This is my first time on youtube.com and was surprised to see an animation short about a kiwi. IT WAS BLOODY AWESOME! Thanks for bringing attention to this beautiful animal. Makes me wonder if penguins think about the same thing?! Rather than a trampoline at the bottom mabe a U tube (punny ay?) that sends him right back to the top.

Hi Dony,
If you'd put your video on Revver, with 3m views, you'd have about $35k in your pay pal account right now. I heard from the Revver people that that is about what the Eepybird.com guys got for about the same views, last summer on their mentos and coke video.

Love your video and would love to see you support yourself with it.

i think your animation is well made.well done. But why did you have to end the cartoon in such a sad way. I think that you should create a sequal. that would be great!
