netball = basketball for girls (respect to kelevra for managing to get that hardcore injury though).
also ice hockey is played in thirds...wtf.

netball=basketball for girls? ...way to pidgeon hole by gender. There is a reason men have netball teams now, and women have basketball teams. Sure there are similarities, but they are not the same sport, and nor should they, or are they currently, gender assigned.

lol well it was created purely as a women's alternative to basketball...

and the computer was created initially solely for business, not personal use. things change and it becomes rather arcane to stick by old definitions, or initial intentions.

We already had basketball but people took out any contact/moving with the ball to make it proper for girls or whatever bullshit they pulled back in the day. How is that the same as something like computers becomming practical for personal use through development and technological improvement?
It's going to come down to the fact that i think netball is essentially a poor-man's basketball that lacks flair, so it wasn't a logical evolution to me. I also found it mega frustrating to play (as a B'ball player) even as a Center being able to move most of the court. But yeah, for the record i think everyone should just play basketball, not that girls should just play netball and men b'ball... but considering how women's basketball often lacks the aggression/intensity of men's, it makes more sense for them to play it. whatever, i don't know what i'm getting at...sue me!
i'll invent my own sport... with an explosive ball and electrified bats...and ninjas...

Well, it looks like CH!MP has finally decided to stop digging his hole deeper. I'll agree that comparing basketball to computers was probably not the best comparison, but the actual point of what kiki was saying is still perfectly logical.
EDIT--> also, if you ever watch a game of basketball you can spot a netball player easily - they still don't move with the ball.

On the issue of what sports are for what gender i have a general stance of not giving a fuck, i don't play indoor netball seriously i play it for fun.

aside from what actually brought about the changes, the comparison works perfectly fine. the catalyst for the change isnt what we're arguing about, so i kind of figured that as immaterial.
