Man, I'm glad my school makes us do less SACs in year 11 & 12. The teachers basically say "If you want a good mark, hand me in all the work I set you" and just teach you in class, without forcing you to work.
There are some obvious disadvantages, but if you know what you want and roughly how much work it takes to get that, it's fairly good I think.
However, exam periods just suck regardless of your year level. I don't even stress much for exams and I hate them.

If you cant really cope with that much in year high school non-vce, i dont know how you will survive university. Most people I know, regardless of their degree, don't get a lot of sleep... and its not all to do with partying hard either.... a lot of it is assignments and tests....

Our system is nothing on the North American system... they have a much more intense workload than we do. We place a lot more emphasis on final exams than they do, there's a constant amount of work over here, compared to Aus.

are you talking about High School or Uni? Because I'm sure Uni changes from course to course and Uni to Uni; the world over.
