Well now this certainly is not so fucking annoying news at all.
Fox has given the thumbs up to produce 4 direct-to-DVD movies based on Futurama. (Read more)
Awesome! Futurama was my favourite cartoon, cause it was a comedy that mixed drama/emotion into a cartoon comedy so well. It was probably the first cartoon that made me cry. Wait, I'm a man -- I mean, almost made me cry.

I don't know the episode titles/names but the one where Fry's dog came back and then at the end it showed him waiting there through the seasons, that was just brutal! I was bawling if I recall correctly. Also the one where Leela finds out her parents are mutants and then at the end it shows the montage of her parents secretly being active in her life and stuff, awesome show.

Bah! A non believer! About the cartoon thing, I was just as shocked to react this way to a cartoon, it was not what I was expecting! Go watch one of those two episodes that we mentioned and see for yourself.
And also, about the future thing, I don't actually think that it has nothing to do with the present, there are a lot of things that can be related to or linked to the present in Futurama. Sure, robots and pod transportation... but that's just technology advancing in time. Natural human emotions remain the same, it's just the situation that changes with time. More importantly, the mere fact that it's written in our time is a strong enough link that allows us to relate to it and appreciate the perspective.

I'm either heartless, or not a cry baby, cause I didnt get that reaction when watching that episode... Sure, it was semi-emotional, but nothing worth bawling over. I wouldn't rate it as a "tissue and ice cream" movie... Oh well! <3 Futurama nevertheless =]

What makes futurama great is the subtleties in every episode. Look on walls random posters and newspaper headlines, it's all comedic gold. Also Bender and Zapp brannigan are priceless!
one of my favourite snippets from amazon women in the mood :
"i sentence you to death, BY SNU-SNU'
zapp and fry :'YAY!!!!!!!'
*Kiff cries*
Zapp: 'What are you? gay?

'Tis indeed a great show, I haven't ever cried over any of the (few) episodes I've seen, but then again I haven't cried in about 4 years.
